Requiem for a Tuba Player

This piece was written in memory of Lyle Lundstrom, Tuba player, most recently, for the Pomona Concert Band, Pomona, California; The Golden State British Brass Band, Southern California; and the La Mirada Symphony, La Mirada, California.  A member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, he passed away in 2014.

Performance Notes: 

The piece is written in F# minor and F# major to symbolize the "F" Tuba the Lyle played.  The opening section should be serious in nature then the Allegro section from "F" to the end should be jovial and bright.  This Allegro theme is an adaptation of two Sinfonia tunes from the fraternity songbook.  There are two versions of the solo part with one a bit more challenging.  The cadenza is ad lib as much or as little as the performer wants.
