Pavane for the Sleeping Beauty

This piece is the first two sections from Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite.” The melodies are haunting and the tonality is a welcome change to the music. As few notes as possible are utilized with the base goal of 6 notes for each part. The Clarinets do not go over the break.

Performance Notes: 

This piece is written in the key of D minor(4/4) and Bb major (3/4) with a Da Capo. The grade 0.5 band will find challenges in the presentation of these two section of this famous suite. Included in the parts is a condensed score which is authorized to copy for festival performance.
