Emperor

An adaptation of the introduction of the 5th piano concerto of Beethoven, this piece has interesting elements such as a familiar "Das Rheingold" beginning. The piece will prepare in relatively short time.  An interesting note that it is believed that this was the last piece composed by Beethoven be for he lost his hearing.

Category:  British Brass Band,
SKU:  TMPBSBB-0105
Composer:  Ludwig van Beethoven
Arranger:  Jorge E. Garcia

Price:  $34.00

Performance Notes:

The piece begins with somewhat the same effect in Richard Wagner’s “Das Rheingold.”  The Eb drone continues while the Solo Cornet, Flugelhorn, 1st and 2nd Baritone Horn, Euphonium (alternating), and Mallets fly over the Eb scale study.  Surprisingly, these glissandos fall under the fingers quite quickly.  Directors should stress blend and character to brass on their entrances and to adhere to the articulation at letter “D.”  There are some “surprises” in the 3rd Cornet parts that will keep these often ignored members happy.
