Beauty and the Beast

“Beauty and the Beast” is the forth movement of the “Mother Goose Suite.” This movement,
often called “Conversation with the Beauty and the Beast,” Is very challenging because it is
slow, the tonalities, accidentals, and the lead instruments, particularly in the “Beast” motif,
have challenging parts.

Performance Notes: 

This piece is written in the key of F major. The band will be challenged by the tonalities
which are dependent on the correct placement of the notes on every possible beat. There
is a Marimba part that should ONLY be played on Marimba. There is a very unique tremolo
in the last few bars for the Timpani.
